The wide range of climate in Spain produces rain and wind of the North West coast, to hot and desert like surroundings in the South East coast, where Mar Menor is to be found. The World Health Organisation deems the Mar Menor region of Murcia to have one of the best climates on Earth. Despite the region becoming one of the driest in Spain due to the high temperatures in the summer months, the climate is still very pleasant; mainly due to the refreshing breeze coming from the sea coupled with the low humidity levels. The mountains that surround Murcia help shelter the region from harsh temperatures during the winter and as a result, temperatures of 18 degrees celsius can be reached whilst rarely dropping below 10 degrees. In the summer months, Murcia tends to take a similar presence of a desert due to the severe absence of rainfall. The excelling heat results in water reservoirs drying up. In the higher land, forests can survive without relying on irrigation systems to water them as the humidity increases up land. A well worth visit whilst in Murcia is the Sierra Espuna.
